Vigilance Branch is the branch of the Directorate General of Shipping headed by the Chief Vigilance Officer appointed by the Ministry of Ports, Shipping & Waterways, New Delhi. It Deals with the various complaints received from individual complainant, or received through Ministry of Ports, Shipping & Waterways, Central Vigilance Commission (CVC), Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Prime Minister Office, etc. against the officials of the Directorate and its allied offices. The Vigilance Branch also handles anonymous, pseudonymous and PIDPI complaints in accordance with CVC and DoPT Guidelines.
The Vigilance Branch also issues Vigilance Clearance Certificates (VCC) for various purposes, monitors the Immovable Property Returns (IPR), submission of the factual reports/Action Taken Reports on the complaints, organizing Vigilance Awareness Week and other vigilance related work. Vigilance Branch also deals with the disciplinary proceedings of the cases where the vigilance angle is involved including the process of seeking First Stage and Second Stage Advice of CVC.
