The Coordination Branch of DG Shipping plays a pivotal role in ensuring seamless communication and coordination between the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, other Ministries of Government of India, State Governments, Directorate, and allied offices. Coordination Branch is dedicated to the efficient collection, compilation, and furnishing of periodical reports and facilitating key meetings and committees.

The Coordination Branch deals with collection, compilation and furnishing of periodical reports to the Ministry such as Annual Report, Administrative Yearbook, Coordination of meetings with shipping industry, Principal Officers of Mercantile Marine Departments, Standing Core Committee, Parliamentary Standing Committee, etc

It also deals with the internal coordination between different wings and branches of the Directorate.
