Maritime Insurance
The Directorate General of Shipping mandates that ships carry valid Protection and Indemnity (P&I) insurance to cover liabilities related to crew welfare, pollution damage, cargo claims, and third-party risks. It also enforces financial security requirements for shipowners, ensuring compensation for maritime accidents, wreck removal, and environmental damage.
