IOMOU
The Indian Ocean MoU (IOMOU) remains a key mechanism for port State control cooperation in the region. India, as a founding member, plays an instrumental role in ensuring safe, secure, and environmentally responsible shipping through targeted ship inspections, capacity-building, and data-sharing. The DGS continues to support the development of regional training modules and audit standards, while advocating for digital transparency in enforcement of IMO conventions. India’s robust port state inspection regime and participation in concentrated inspection campaigns reinforce its leadership in the IOMOU and commitment to cleaner seas and safer vessels.
